🌾 Healthy Barley Water (with Pressure Cooker Option)

🥄 Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup pearl barley
  • 4 cups water
  • 1–2 teaspoons lemon juice (optional)
  • 1–2 teaspoons honey (optional)
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

🍳 Method 1: Regular Stove (Recap)

  1. Rinse barley well.
  2. Boil with water, then simmer for 25–30 minutes.
  3. Strain, flavor if desired, and serve.

⚡ Method 2: Pressure Cooker

  1. Rinse barley thoroughly under water.
  2. Add to cooker with 4 cups water.
  3. Pressure cook on medium heat for:
    • 3–4 whistles (Indian cooker), OR
    • ~15 minutes (if using a modern pressure cooker)
  4. Let pressure release naturally.
  5. Strain the liquid into a container.
  6. Add lemon, honey, or salt if you like.
  7. Serve warm or chilled.
