Easy Evening Snack recipe for Oats Poha Chivda

Oats Poha Chivda Recipe is one of the healthy and quickest snack option during evening tea time. It has healthy ingredients like sprouts, nuts, oats, peanuts, and flax seeds, one can add more ingredients according to their taste buds.  Oats are a good option for people with high cholesterol and triglycerides and also for all health conscious people as it increases the fiber intake of a person.

This oats chivda is more like my poha chivda. One fine evening I was craving for some savory snack and end up making this healthier version of chivda with my Black coffee. I used rolled oats, Added the variety of nuts, and used flaxseeds seeds. You can customize this recipe as per your diet preference. Along with rolled oats, you can add poha/beaten rice or any millet flakes: peanuts, dry coconut pieces, and other nuts and dried fruits of your choice.

Serve Oats Chivda Recipe during tea time along with Coffee, Tea, Green tea, Adrak wali chai or Masala Chai.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Instant Oats (Oatmeal)
  • 1 cup Poha (optional, completely depends on your taste buds)
  • 1.5 teaspoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Peanut oil
  • Mixed Nuts like almonds, cashews 1/4 cup roasted
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 pinch Cumin seeds (Jeera)
  • 1/4 cup Raw Peanuts (Moongphali)
  • 1 Dry Red Chilli , broken
  • 1/2 Green Chilli , slit
  • 1 pinch Red Chilli powder
  • 1 pinch Turmeric powder (Haldi)
  • Asfoetida a pinch
  • Salt , as required
  • 1/4 cup Green Moong Sprouts
  • 1 tablespoon Flax seeds

How to make Oats Chivda Recipe

  1. To prepare Oats Poha Chivda Recipe, heat a skillet, on medium heat and dry roast 1 cup of oats till it turns golden brown. This will take about 3-5 minutes. Turn off the flame, transfer to a bowl and   keep it aside to cool. 
  2. In the same pan, roast a cup of poha  for 5 minutes. Transfer it into the same bowl as the oats and keep aside. 
  3. Heat olive/Peanut oil in a Deep frying pan, add mustard and cumin seeds and let the mustard seeds crackle 
  4. Then add a handful of peanuts and half broken red chillies to it.
  5. When the peanuts are fried to golden, then add slit green chillies and cook until the peanuts are roasted well.
  6. Switch off the gas. 
  7. Now add a pinch of red chilli powder, a pinch of turmeric powder and salt along with asfoetida and mix well.
  8. Then add the poha and oats to the pan.
  9. Mix everything together and then add sprouts. Mix well.
  10. When the oats chivda cools down completely, then sprinkle flax seeds and serve immediately or store in an airtight container.
  11. Serve Oats Chivda whenever and wherever you want.
