How to make chili chicken at home?

Chili chicken is one of the most popular Indo-Chinese chicken appetizer or starter. It is a sweet, spicy and also slightly sour in taste. This delicious chicken recipe is very popular with non vegetarians. This recipe is very simple and easy that you will be able to make it at the comfort of your home and according to your own taste.

  • Boneless Chicken (diced)-200 g
  • Egg, beaten-1
  • Cornflour-1/4 cup
  • Garlic paste-1/2 tsp
  • Ginger paste-1/2
  • Salt, to taste
  • Oil (to shallow fry)
  • Onions, sliced-1 cup
  • Capsicum, cliced-1 cup
  • Green chili-3-4
  • Soy sauce-1 tbsp (or adjust to taste)
  • Vinegar-1 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves, for garnishing (optional)

Method of preparation:

  • Firstly, for marination of chicken, mix together the chicken, egg, corn flour, ginger and garlic paste, salt (2 tsp) and enough water so that the chicken pieces are coated with the batter (not too watery). After that, leave it for about 30 minutes.
  • Secondly, heat oil in a deep pan and shallow fry the chicken pieces over medium heat first and then lower the flame after some time. Shallow fry it until the chicken is cooked. Drain on absorbent paper to soak the excess oil.
  • Furthermore, heat oil (2 tbsp) in a pan and add sliced onions and stir-fry over until golden brown.
  • Next, add the green chillies and capsicum and saute for a minute.
  • Lastly, add salt, soy sauce, vinegar, and 1 cup of water in it and cook for 2-3 minutes and then add chicken and stir for 2-3 minutes again.
  • Finally, serve hot and garnish it with chopped coriander leaves.
